I'm glad I can turn more people on to shortcuts. You can also right-click on search fields to have Firefox automagically generate the correct URL -- works for POST searches as well.

Shameless plug: I've blogged about shortcuts recently. Some good comments on where we might be able to take this in the future:

I had seen that keyword field in there before, but never thought much about it. That has to be one of the slickest things I've ever seen!!

Thanks!

Woah, that's sweet! I think keywords just became my newest feature to use and abuse. Thanks for the tip, Chris!

Don't forget Firefox's built-in keyword shortcuts: http://www.mozilla.org/docs/end-user/keywords.html

They can make getting to information (Google, your favorite documentation, imdb, etc.) easier.

You forgot to mention the biggest reason that everyone should use Firefox over IE for day to day surfing... Security!

Nearly all exploits used to get malicious code onto PC's are specific to IE. Browsing with Firefox significantly reduces the risks of spyware/malware/browser hijackers/whatever else you might possibly step in out there on the net.

Sure, I fire up IE from time to time if a site doesn't work quite right with firefox, but I find that to be extremely rare.

BTW... In case any of you out there are considering installing the Active-X extention for firefox... DON'T! By doing so, you negate much of the security you gain by using Firefox in the first place.
