The Transformers weren't over-engineered. Bay said he wanted them to look real. He didn't want any of that silly size-changing business from the cartoons. The Autobots and Decepticons were modelled from the vehicle mode up, so the robot form was actually possible to build with what you get out of a Camaro.

And I thought making Optimus a Peterbilt was awesome, seeing as I have 3 and my uncle has a few dozen. They're very familiar to me. And now I might even get a red one painted with blue flames or whatever scheme Optimus had in the movie.

I would also like to note that the chick was HOTTT.

And if you're looking for some classic Transformers, a user over on YouTube has a good collection of the old series, the first 10 episodes are there in their entirety, good quality too, for YouTube.

Give it a watch and brush up on your Transformers history:

Transformers is a lot better the 2nd time around. I saw / understood a lot more this time around. All the shots make more sense and the fights played out a lot nicer.

Just enjoy the movie for crying out loud. I thought the movie was amazing! Why in the world are they going to spend 20 minutes explaining to you, that dont have an imagination, on how they transform. They are a superior advance robotic race 100's of years ahead of our current technology.

So many clues pointed to that: Hacking the US Defense network in minutes where even the most technology advance nation next to us would take years; hmm... can space travel...we cant; advance weaponry etc...

You will never ever get a perfect movie. They open the door for your imagination, you have to walk in.

Transformers gets two thumbs up for me and definitely without question looking forward to the ones that follow. A majority of these new action pack films are made from the toys and cartoons we all use to watch...I cant ask for anything better.

And frankly, I wasn't all too impressed with the new Camaro. I thought it was kind of ugly.

Of course, maybe when I see one blur by me on the freeway it will change my mind.

I think used the wrong title of the movie. It's actually "General Motors presents The Transformers featuring the all new Chevy Camaro!"

That said, it was just too busy. Was any shot longer than about 3 seconds? And could you actually see any part of the transformers without having it zoomed in so tight you couldn't make out anything else?

Transformers was a really fun movie. My only complaints is that the camera wouldn't stay still and the robots were way over designed, especially given the shaky camera angles.

What made the movie was the personality they put into the robots. And not just voice acting, which was good, but the subtle movements of the robots, like rubbing their head in disbelief, made all the difference.

The start was a wee bit slow - I just wanted them to start fighting and shooting - but nothing that effects the whole movie.

Megatron was kind of a let down because he was built up but barely used and he was more a mix between Megatron and Galvatron. I still like Starscream though, always have.

Definitely worth seeing again and we're practically guaranteed to have 2 more movies.

...Thundercats? I dunno about that. I wasn't the biggest Thundercats fan to begin with. But GI Joe, now there's one I can get behind. There are a lot of stories and characters there, so they have lots of options. Lets just hope they don't jip us by using only 5 characters in the first movie and adding more in more movies.
