Well, I guess you never know if people are actively trying to get the high score. I'm sure the guy I beat thought he'd have that record forever.

I'll never say forever but I'm willing to guess it will stand for a while...at least until someone else has the stamina to play the time needed to beat my score (which should be no more than about 30 minutes).

Do you know if anyone else is actively trying to beat your record, or is this something that you could 'own' forever?

Back when King of Kong was new I had come across some reports that the movie editors took some liberties in certain cases to make the story more entertaining. The commentary on the DVD has some insight too...it's not like completely made up or anything. I think people's "mostly true" calls come from how the movie painted it as some great rivalry when I don't think that really existed.

And yes, find the small pond.

I have my sights on "Robocop" on the NES next. I actually beat the world record the other night on the emulator, so I need the actual cart so I can submit a score.

And here I bet the guy that had Urban Champion VC title thought he'd never be challenged. Ha!

Haha, big fish in a small pond! I once thought I could be the champion of Super Smash Bros. 64, but then realized that pond was too big. I should do this with some old game I used to be obsessed with, though. I loved King of Kong, too. Where did you find out that it was only "mostly" true? I'd be interested in reading about the (fully) true story.

Urban Champion is like bowling. Looking at it, it seems simple enough, maybe even boring. But then when you actually play it makes you mad, which keeps you playing. And once you get to about Round 10 you start wondering just how far you can go...and thus it begins.

Ha, congrats! I never played Urban Champion. And going back to the old games is harder than I thought. I tried to play Millipede at the laundromat the other day. It was sad. Like really really sad. If there had been a bunch of preteen boys around, they would have laughed at me.

Congratulations! Urban Champion was one of those games that was so bad, but for some reason, I could never stop playing it.

Congrats on the big record. I think next up should be Star Wars for Atari, that game was impossible.
