It’s no secret that I love toys. Who doesn’t? But while some people “grow out” of toys, I’m not ashamed to be a fan of toys even as I enter my 30s. Like the rest of us, I’ve lost many toys since I as little. They were either out right lost, sucked up in the vacuum, blow apart, or melted down in a spectacular pyro display. But some toys survived, and most of them ended up in a box - the Box of Lost Toys.
One box, lots of toys
I acquired this box many years ago when I was moving and cleaning out my parents house. The box seemed to be a catch-all for the toys I really didn’t care about. The toys I did care about are alive and well throughout my house and in my office at work. I picked some cherry pieces out of the box at first but otherwise let the box sit in the garage…until now.
It might be more accurate to call it the Box of Toys that Time Forgot…at least if you ask me. Sure, I had the mainstream toys like everyone else - GI Joe, Transformers, etc. - but my mother had a very unique talent to find me toys that were just slightly off the mark. That’s not to say some weren’t awesome, but a lot were toys I never saw any other kids have.
I can do it too
I’ve been discovering a lot of toy blogs lately that not only review current toys but look back at old/retro toys. Reading about toys and how other people remember them inspired me to tackle the box of toys and take a look at just what was in there.

Keep in mind this is not all of my childhood toys. Nay. I have several more boxes sitting in various attics, one of which has all my Star Wars toys, which will be a whole series of articles for sure. But lets start with The Box and we’ll see where it takes us. I love toys and I’m gonna talk about them. Enjoy.
What do you spy in the box of toys?
