I probably eat my weight in pizza each week, usually in the form of Little Caesar’s. Now before you start crying foul because LC’s is crappy pizza, keep in mind it is pizza that is only $5 for a large. But I diverged from standard practice this past weekend and tried Domino’s “new” pizza. Big mistake.
They had their chance
Domino’s is not a favorite of mine. It is last on my list big chain pizza shops, right below Papa John’s. Not even Domino’s rather low price ($6 for a large) could help make it to my dinner table regularly. But recently Domino’s claimed change to their pizza…a new formula for the ultimate pizza. I had heard from some people that the new pizza is indeed better, so I gave it a try. Thankfully it was still $6 for a large.
The new Domino’s pizza was just bad. And this is coming from me, who loves Little Caesar’s so much that my local store can easily bank on at least $15 a week from me alone. So Domino’s new pizza didn’t help it climb out of the pizza dungeon. I just couldn’t believe that they managed to make the pizza worse. I can usually pack away 3/4 of a LC pizza without any problem. I gave up on the Domino’s after three slices.
Pizza, pizza
Many folks say my tastes are askew, so when I don’t like something it means others will probably be able to tolerate it…who knows? Domino’s is thankfully cheap, but it’s not $5 and it’s not good, so Little Caesar’s has nothing to fear. Price has an interesting effect on your taste buds. Quality of pizza becomes less and less important when you know you can walk into a Caesar’s, slap a Lincoln on the counter, and walk out with a large, hot pizza immediately. No waiting. No calling ahead. Just show up. It’s just too easy.
You think you don’t like Little Caesar’s because you didn’t like them before. Try them. Then try it again. And remember, it’s only $5 for an entire pizza.
I agree with you about LC’s pizza. You just can’t beat a $5 instant pizza. It’s not my favorite, but I can down a whole Hot n’ Ready without any problem. I remember getting ill after a few slices of Domino’s. If only Pizza Hut could bring their prices down on a stuffed crush I’d be happy.
I’m hoping Pizza continues their any pizza for $10 because I’m willing to pony that up if we’re both going to eat the pizza. Ten bucks for two people is a deal.
There’s something about Pizza Hut though that I can’t eat their pizza too frequently, yet I can eat LC’s a good 3 times a week without getting sick of it. Maybe LC’s is just so unspectacular that it just ends up like a PB&J…nothing special, just serves a purpose.
I gotta disagree. I think the new Dominos Pizza is a definite improvement over their old version. Pizza Hut has been dead to me for a long time now — I think their pizza is just about the worst.
Keep in mind this is ocming from a guy that likes Donato’s Pizza, so take my opinion for what it’s worth. ;)
On the other hand, nothing beats being able to walk right in and out of a Little Caesar’s and get a passable pie for $5. LC-FTW!
