Need a quick snack for a holiday party? It doesn’t get any easier than Christmas Crackers.
My mom used to make these every Christmas when I was little and I’ve kept on making them every year. To be honest, Christmas Crackers would be good at any time of year, but I just associate them with the holidays.
What you’re making is soup crackers with ranch flavoring. Simple as that. Might not sound like much but trust me, they’re yummy.
What you’ll need
- Soup crackers
- Ranch dressing powder
- Vegetable oil
- Cookie sheet
- Aluminum foil
- Wooden spoon (or food gloves work best)
First, take a small bowl and pour in some vegetable oil, maybe 1/3 full. Next, add some ranch dressing powder. Don’t add the entire pack, you’ll have to eyeball it…and it depends just how “ranchy” you want your crackers to be. Mix it up with a spoon, it should be pretty runny, not thick.
Next, dump your bag of soup crackers into a bowl. Then pour the ranch oil around on top of the crackers. Use a spoon or your hands to mix up the crackers so the oil gets spread around.
Put some aluminum foil over a cookie sheet and then dump the crackers on it. Put it in the oven for about 6 minutes at 250-degrees or so, just enough heat to bake in the goodness. Depending on your cracker pile, you might want to flip the crackers around and do another round in the oven.
Once it’s done “baking” just put the crackers in a bowl and they’re ready for munching! Personally, I think they are best out of the oven when they’re still warm. For parties I like to put Christmas Crackers in bowls around the house so they’re never far out of reach. They’re also great to take to parties throughout the season…just make a bunch because it will go fast!
