We’ve had Netflix for just about a year and it’s been great. Only after we got Netflix did I consider cutting the cord on normal cable TV. That hasn’t happened (and probably won’t) but that says something about Netflix…and that’s my problem with Netflix. There’s too much to watch! Continue reading

Are we witnessing the end of pro wrestling?
I’ve been watching pro wrestling for about 25 years now and every fan knows that the quality of the product has be sliding over the past several years. I don’t expect things to stay the same after decades but recent changes really have me worried. Continue reading
Humans and robots
Robots are near and dear the hearts of any sci-fi fan. Robots spell both hope and fear for the future. But we don’t have to wait until the future to have fun with our robots. Today we have robots playing Jeopardy and we find Detroit in need of a robot hero. Continue reading
Taking advantage of Netflix
Recently there’s been a lot of talk amongst friends and others about cancelling their Netflix accounts and switching to other services. We haven’t been on Netflix for too terribly long, not even a year, but I have to say there isn’t much to complain about so it kind of surprises me to hear such angst. Continue reading
Tron Legacy, pretty in blue
After years of hype, anticipation, music and teasers, Tron Legacy finally opened today. We chose to hit up the midnight showing of Friday morning. It had been a long time since we opted to see any movie at the theatre, let alone a midnight showing, but as a Tron fan there was no avoiding it. Continue reading
The Walking Dead, a world without zombies?
The zombie survival TV show “The Walking Dead” on AMC just ended after what was a successful – albeit short - first season…at least if you look at the ratings. But was it a success to zombie fans like myself? Continue reading
The movies women just don’t understand
Okay ladies, this one’s for you. If you’re woman then there’s probably a long list of movies you just don’t understand why us men enjoy. I can’t give any good reasons why us men like these movies, they probably strike some sort of primal chord with us or something. Nonethless, there are certain movies that are required viewing for men…and they should be for women. Continue reading
I am not a Tron poser
It’s happening again. Something old that didn’t used to be “cool” is now cool. And this time that something is not one I expected, Tron. Tron Legacy comes out in less than a month and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. I can honestly say that I’m not jumping on the wagon…because I’ve been riding that cart for a long time already. Continue reading
Top Gear USA stands alone…like the cheese
As a fan of anything, it’s hard to accept copies, clones and reincarnations. As a fan of Top Gear, the BBC’s top rated car show, it’s hard to take an American version seriously. But Top Gear USA is in a good position and I don’t think it’s worried about fans like me. Continue reading
Finally, a PC in the living room
Our (new) TV has more ports than I knew what to do with…until now. We’ve had the TV for just about a year and I feel like I’m just starting to take advantage of it. Unfortunately, this new avenue of geeking out may require some additional hardware…but it’ll be worth it. Continue reading
Netflix, resistance is futile
I’m not afraid to admit when I’m wrong. Now I might argue my case for days before I make that admission, but you can’t argue with facts. And the fact is, Netflix is awesome. I had my doubts but after as little as two days with Netflix it has come to be that resistance was futile. Continue reading
The iPad verdict, no thanks
I’m typing this entry on an iPad. My department got an ipD to test with our app and for browser testing. I got to take home for a nightb and try it out in some real-world applications, like blogging. Continue reading
