I subscribe to XM for my car. We're thinking about getting it for the house too. Does anyone know if I could get an XM player for the house but just tack it on to one subscription with my car?

Looks like it costs extra per radio you add to your account. So you're paying X now per month for the car, if we bought a at-home receiver, we'd have to pay extra to add it to your account.

That blows, frankly. They'd probably get a lot more users if you just paid a monthly rate and could then use it with any number of radios you link to your account.

I think it's an extra $6.99/month to add additional receivers.

We've still got our little XM SkyFi receiver in the home kit cradle hooked up to our stereo.

You have to pay extra for satellite and cable TV boxes, so it's stands to reason that the same would be true of satellite radio.

You guys pay a lot more than $6.99 /month for cable TV, and those channels almost all have commercials.  At least with XM you don't have to listen to commercials on the music channels.

Yeah, but you can split cable - you can't split XM.

Hopefully the quality of XM sounds better in the house than in the car. I am not very impressed with the audio quality, it's very AM-sounding. Thankfully the station selection is really good.

And you know, not that I *want* commercials, but commercials don't really bother me. The way I see it, the advantage of XM is the plentiful channels and getting reception wherever you are. Sure, no commercials is great but hardly the hook IMHO.

I keep seeing more and more Netflix ads on TV and they always pimp the "no late fees," but that too is a little narrow if you ask me. The late fee shouldn't be the factor that sells the service, it should be the catalog and quality of service. I think you have to watch a lot of movies to per month to get value out of your subscription.
