Vorpal is all boss, all the time

As a consumer of most things arcade-shooter, when I saw Vorpal show up in the Indie store for a dollar, it was a pretty much a no-brainer. And for what it lacks in depth it makes up for with one simple red line.

Protect Me Knight, not tower defense but action defense

Protect Me Knight is an Xbox Indie game that drew me in with retro graphics but blew me away with a great concept, top notch game play and just a lot of fun…not to mention the cool retro graphics and music. If you like tower defense games, then Protect Me Knight brings a new challenge [...]

Indie games start an uprising

I’m a fan of indie games on the Xbox Live Arcade. Yes, there are plenty of cheap avatar games and other shovelware in the indie marketplace, but there are also lots of games worthy of your pennies that will keep you entertained and returning to play. But I admit they aren’t easy to find or [...]

Flying with Joe Cool

Game demos are not only good for the gamer, but they’re good for the maker. Case in point this time is Snoopy Flying Ace on the XBL Arcade. All things considered, if I saw a game with “Snoopy” in the title I’d either pass it by entirely or at most, pick it up too see [...]

Domino’s new pizza is worse than before

I probably eat my weight in pizza each week, usually in the form of Little Caesar’s. Now before you start crying foul because LC’s is crappy pizza, keep in mind it is pizza that is only $5 for a large. But I diverged from standard practice this past weekend and tried Domino’s “new” pizza. Big [...]

Indie games, little price but big fun

Hot Wheels USB drive

I like the weekend projects and when I find one that involves some toys and technology, it’s hard to pass up. I wish I could have come up with the idea myself, but alas I saw it out on the internets and just decided that I can do it too…and hopefully better.

Office space makeover

I like coming up with ideas for the home. I love thinking up little projects but rarely do they ever come to fruition. However, one thing I vowed to get done this summer was to repaint our office. It’s probably the one room where we spend most of our time, since it’s where both of [...]

Cheap games, cheap reviews

Even with XBL Arcade dropping full-featured games like Battlefield 1943 and Magic at bargin bin prices, the other platform that is never far out of reach is the DS. But a seemingly lack luster line-up of recent games for the DS means I have to look backwards. Fortunately I stumbled across some older games that kept me busy…for a [...]

Battlefield 1943 and a little Magic go a long way

I admitted being wrong about first-person shooters when I got Call of Duty at the beginning of the year, but never did I think I would find a new, decent shooter for under $20. But wait, there’s more! I have actually found two great games, both under $20, which to me is the cheapskate gamer’s [...]
